When: As Rosette and Amber dock
Amber piloted the small almost useless drop-ship to the Dwarf
identified as Dwarf 17 and casually landed the ship in one of the
shuttle-bays.
"Now, all we need to do is find Efof..." Amber said, looking around
for a sign of the alien.
Then she head a sound, it was the sound of someone stretching a small
three-letter word out for over en entire line.
"Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
unnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!" It said, followed by a
Ffionian-shaped blur.
"That was easy." Said Amber, and then Rosette tapped her on the back
to remind her of Efof's rather simple advice. Amber looked in the
direction Efof had come from, and saw the entire wall collapse.
Through the rubble was the ugly face of a large Hymenoptera charging
straight towards them. Over the years they had encountered many
different types of Hymenoptera, each similar to a type of insect. It
seemed that the Hymenoptera were good at breeding new strains and
seemed to have an endless amount of sub-species. Each species was
probably bred for a specific purpose, for example some were about the
size of people and were like worker ants, some were nimble fighting
machines, some were giant stompy monsters as tall as buildings.
This one was a large fat horned-beetle. It seemed to have the grace
as a triceratops in an elevator.
It barged through the wall of the flight deck towards then and
effortlessly pushed its way past Starbugs and Blue Midgets, tossing
them like cardboard cutouts. It caught their own Starbug on it's
horns and tossed it in the air towards them.
Amber and Rosette followed Efof through a side entrance to the Flight
Deck before the ruined Starbug came crashing town on top of them.
They ran down the corridor adjacent to the Flight Deck, but the wall
was no match for the giant beetle. It's unstoppable mass reduced the
metal wall to ruins just behind where the two women were running.
The monster wasn't small enough to fit in the corridor, but it tried.
It forced it's way in, pushing all walls outwards, and the ceiling
upwards. If anyone was on the deck above they would have found their
floor suddenly pushing them quickly up to the ceiling.
Amber and Rosette turned a corner and saw Efof stood there with his
hands on his knees panting. "Come on Efof!" They grabbed him and
continued running.
"But... my legs!" He wheezed. "They are too tired. And I only have
two of them. Why wasn't I born with four legs as well as arms?!"
He followed them down the corridor and then stopped when they did.
"Why are we stopping?" He said. "Surely there's a big bad after us?"
"It's stopped." Said Amber, feeling the floor. "It's not behind us
anymore."
"Where is it th-"
Efof was cut off by an extremely loud scraping noise, it was the
sound of their ceiling suddenly getting ripped away from their heads.
The Hymenoptera towered above them, raising itself to full height it
looked like it had ripped through at least three decks above them,
because they could see the floors cut away.
Efof wondered in his simple little mind what the exterior of this
Blue Dwarf now looked like, with this monster ripping through floors
and pushing bulkheads out of alignment. It probably had severe bulges
that the monster had pushed out.
It's mandibles clicked and the giant insect prepared to crash down
into them.....
