CMO Jennifer Wildflower

Who: Wildflower
Where: Medibay
When: A while after Keto left to resign.
-------------------
Jennifer Wildflower sat tiredly at the desk of Doctor Charles Keto and
wiped her brow with
a fairly sodden and dirty looking handkerchief. She stared again at
the mountain of paperwork in front of her and shook her head in surprise.
"How on earth did Charlie ever manage with all this?" She said,
before noticing a strange collection of letters and paper marked with
red and the word important falling out of a wastepaper bin and from
behind a cabinet.
Doctor Charles Keto had left her and Chief Surgeon William Shakespeare
alone in a slowly increasingly populated by ill people medibay a short
while ago with intentions of handing his resignation in. As
Shakespeare was not officially a crew member since his apparent
'death' nine months earlier, Ensign Wildflower had taken the
responsibility of becoming the Acting Chief Medical Officer.
It was no easy take and she was beginning to acquire a new sense of
admiration for the often weary, always sarcastic and angry middle aged
doctor Keto who had somehow always kept the medibay ticking. She felt
so out of place wearing his CMO jacket and sitting at his desk but she
was struggling to do her best.
Getting up and ignoring the freshly toppled over paper mountain, she
left the side office and entered the main medibay area. It was
swarming with injured and sick folk. Shakespeare was arms deep in the
surgery room operating on a punctured lung victim with the help of six
scutters. Meanwhile Wildflower had temporarily hired three half sick
people to help out with the simple tasks, such as ointment
administration and illness recording.
As another person entered the medibay Wildflower smiled wanly and
greeted them.
"How are we doing?" she asked, the tiredness seeping through her voice.
"I've lost my arm," the crewmember said, prompting a release of blood
over the floor.
Wildflower sighed, suddenly realising that the crewmember's shirt
wasn't merely a wonderful shade of red. "Head to operation room seven
and I'll be there shortly." The crewmember did as they were told and
Wildflower zipped over to the wash basin, beginning the act of
sterilising her hands.
She glanced into operation room five to see five of Shakespeare's
scutter team covered in blood as the sixth was dancing around,
sparking and puncturing all the blood transfusion bags. Shakespeare
was shaking his head, frustrated and trying to wrestle the scalpel
away from the broken sixth scutter.
Wildflower sighed again and wishing Keto was back, disappeared into
operation room seven to sew up the armless individual.
