Team Vespidae - Before New Hawaii

Who: Team Vespidae
When: After escaping Mush-a-roos
Where: In the process of taking off from New Oz
"Jesus!" Huffed Peter "I'm glad we aren't out there now, we could
have been badly hurt!" He nodded towards the rear door of the ship.
"Some of us were." Grumbled Keto looking down and studying his legs
that were splayed out from his slumped form.
"Oh stop whining. You're not dead are you? No. So stop
complaining." Amber poked him in the ribs with the shotgun and
grinned just before coughing up something nasty.
She stumbled over to the controls and checked the readouts. "Brace
for takeoff."
The gentle thrumming of the engines grew to a strained whine and
flame slammed into the dusty ground pushing them skyward and
vapourising some of the mush-a-roos in the process.
"Man that looked hectic. Did you get the spores?" Jack Phantom had
been sitting in the cockpit all along, but they had been too busy to
notice.
Amber turned on him, "yes I did and no thanks to you!" Her gun was
now pointed at him and her eyes narrowed, "where did you come from?
We could have used you out there."
Jack caught his breath. Being jabbed in the stomach with a shotgun
tends to hinder ones breathing abilities. "Well I was told to join
Vespidae so I came on board ship and was checking her out when you
guys must have taken off. You left under a load of thrust and I must
have been knocked out. I came round in the thorax about 15 minutes
ago with a splitting headache and wondering where I was. I've been
waiting here and watching on the monitors since then and checking
the mission details."
Peter came over and patted Jack on the shoulder, "well it's good to
have someone else on board. If Hawaii is anything like here we're
going to need you!"
"Thanks." Replied Jack, he then stood and walked to Keto. "Man you
look in a bad way, you reckon he need patching up before then Mel?"
She look first from Jack and then to Keto's legs and nodded. There
was a ping from the command console to tell them Vespidae was locked
in on Hawaii. They all found seating and strapped themselves in
before the thrusters fired, and the ship streaked away into the
cloudless sky.
