Where: Jessie's new quarters. Jessie and Jessie stormed through the corridors, furious. First, their weapons vanished, then this. It was enough to drive anyone over the edge. The door opened hurriedly, as though recognising that this was not a mood to trifle with. On the way out from the meeting, Holly had informed the two of them that she had been assigned quarters on deck 873b, and it had taken them several hours to locate their room. They were not having a good day.
AlphaJessie flung the suitcase containing their now shared possessions onto the floor, then, with a glance at her other self, climbed onto the top bunk and went to sleep. BetaShe sighed, and, opening the small cupboard that would have to do for both of her, began to put their belongings away. A Space Corp uniform, with tiny needle holes where thread had once held the insignia. The jewellery box, containing an old-fashioned locket which held a picture of her father (she had none of her mother) and the box from Nick's engagement ring. A framed photo of herself and Nick, from her twenty-first birthday party. A tear fell as she tenderly placed it on what passed for a bedside table. Jessie sat there gazing at the photo for a while before it occurred to her to get some sleep. "Good night," she whispered, to no-one in particular.
