Crates gallore
Who: Kevn Fenard
where: cargo decks
when: after walking for a few minutes
Kevn was lost, the Xpress lift was nowhere to be found. Kevn's light
flickered then died, he was alone in the darkness...
Then he heard a faint humming noise, he turned about trying to find
the source of the noise. Then it stopped, Kevn stopped as
well. "Hello?" he said blankly
The humming got closer now... closer... Then something bumped his
leg. Kevn leapt up and away from the thing. He turned and could make
out something about the size of a dog. Lights appeared and brightly
shone in Kevn's face. It was a robot. A short service robot. Kevn
had never seen such a robot before, although he had never been down
here before, the robot had a cute sence about it. It was nearly
similar to a skutter but had legs where the large base would be, and
it had a pair of arms with "claws". "Hey there little guy... um...
do you know where the lift is?" Kevn said half shaken up.
The robot gave him a confused look, then turned and started walking
away. "Hey! Wait!" Kevn hollared.
The robot turned and showed Kevn he wanted him to follow. They
walked down the corridor the robot leading the way. Then they came
to a large blast door. The robot used its little claws to knock on
the door, *knock* *knock* *Knock knock* The door opened to reveal a
large room full of bustling robots carrying heavy crates and
cleaning any messes that were anywhere to be seen. These robots were
organizing the supplise crates Kevn soon realized. He followed the
robot until it stopped in front of a small makeshift hut made of
empty crates. A larger robot came out of it, "Ah, a human! I am FRED-
24. How are you functioning?" it asked.
"You speak," Kevn said.
"Its just a compilation of voice modules from old discarded boombox
speakers and a common language download program. Most of us here
have found out how to build and upgrade ourselves to do so. We've
come to accept the fact that no one is going to come down here and
help us..."
"And yet you continue to help organize the cargo?"
"Just because we have broke our programming doesn't mean we won't
do as we are told. Besides there's nothing better to do... Come..."
FRED-24 signaled Kevn to follow.
