When: A Few hours after the 'Night Thoughts' Posts
Slumped over one of the small table in Parrotts, Peter and Jay were
fast asleep. The lock on the door clicked and Peggy Marwood stepped
into the bar. She spotted the two sleeping boozers and tuted.
<Bloody Hell. Look at 'im.> thought Peggy as she saw her son and
Blue Dwarf's chief pilot asleep in her Pub. She decided to wake
them, just to shoo them out before opening time.
"OI!!" she bellowed, rudely stiring them from their alcohol fueled
slumber.
"W..wh..whats going on??" muttered Jay
"Bloody hell? wha..what you do that for Mum?" asked a similarly
bemused Peter.
"Look lad's, you better get yerselves 'ome." she said, practically
dragging them to the doors and throwing them out into the streets.
"Come back when your sober....and 'ave some money!" she cried after
them, slamming the door shut behind her.
"It's 6 o'clock" said Peter, looking at his watch
"What?" asked Jay, disorientated
"I said it's 6 o'clock chief"
"Right. ok. I want you to go back to your quarters, grab a shower,
sober up a bit and meet me outside Hanger Bay 1 at 8" said Jay, with
a determined look in his eye.
"Er...ok" replied Peter "What for?"
Jay smiled "We've got some new toys to check out" at this he
promptly wandered off down the Promenade.
Peter, still baffled, made his way to his Cabin. Threw his clothes
into the Laundry Basket, and took a nice hot shower, that washed
away the assorted pub grime and general dirt. His shower finished,
he dried and put on a clean pair of Khaki Trousers, a black t-shirt
and a crisp, white short sleeved shirt. Grabbing his leather jacket
he made his way straight to Hanger Bay 1, only stopping to collect a
Black Coffee to go from a Service Dispenser.
At 10 to 8, he met a similarly washed, clean-clothed and sober Jay
outside.
"Hey Pete, see your early, shall we take a look at what the Space
Corps have sent us?" he asked, with a wide grin and glint in his eye.
"Yeah, sure" said Peter, not sure what to expect.
The went through the Doors and had a look at Starbug's 1-6, which
were parked in a row at the back of the hanger.
"There" declared Jay.
"What am I supposed to be looking at?" inquired Peter.
"They've upgraded the ships, can't you tell?" Jay said, a shocked
look upon his face.
Jay led them up into the nearest Starbug. When they got through the
airlock, Peter didn't recognise the Ship. Gone was the empty mid-
section, in its place, a scanner/table and Kitchen Unit had been
installed, as well as staircase that led up to the somewhere.
"Isn't it fantastic?" asked Jay
"Yeah, yeah, it's great! but where did all the room for this stuff
come from? It's like walking into Doctor Who's TARDIS"
"It's quite clever actually. You see, aside from the cockpit,
midsection and the engine room, Starbug's are pretty much empty. So,
the JMC's latest upgrades make use of it. Installing a new kitchen,
Cargo Bay, and even crew quarters."
"Neat" was all Peter had to say.
"You ain't seen nothing yet. They've upgraded the Hydrogen Ram-
Drive's to Tachyon-Powered Engine Core's"
"Well, these babies should be fun to fly" smiled Peter
"You ain't seen nothing yet" said Jay, as they exited the bug. They
quickly left and took the nearest lift over to Hanger Bay Three, on
the other side of the Ship.
"Now, I know your use to flying Starbug's and Blue Midgets, but be
prepared to experience a whole new dimension of flying." said Jay,
sounding almost like a used Car Salesman. Just without the dodgy
toupee.
They entered, and lo and behold, there stood a dozen brand new,
Space Eagle Mk.II's.
"Now this" said Peter "is the good shit"
