JP - Back on the dating rounds....after cleaning up the mess
A jp between Myself, Chris Harris, and a new member, Christine, aka Kanya Rajan!Who: Chris, Kanya and Ravi
When: Shortly after the fool's gold crashed into the hangar bay
Where: Parrots
Chris staggered into parrots covered in hymenoptera blood and various stains that he had gathered from sitting in different places on the fool's gold.
"Something strong please" he requested as he sat on a bar stool, he took his drink and found a nice comfortable bar sofa and threw himself on it. He sighed and placed his drink on the table, sitting bolt upright as he noticed a fairly short Indian woman that he hadn't seen before enter the room.
Kanya followed her father into the bar, feeling slightly uncomfortable. She did not always like doing what her father said, but he did not require that she like it.
He only required that she actually DO it. So, to the bar they would go so he could show her off and hopefully attract some males who might be interested in taking her into their families.
Not that Kanya minded. She would like to be married, but hadn't thought much of the men she'd seen so far on this ship.
She'd begged her father to just take her home and find a husband for her there, but he insisted, saying he might not be there much longer and-
Why was that man staring at her? She tugged her father's sleeve and pointed to the staring man, wondering what her father would do.
Chris noticed that she was returning the stare that he had accidentally given her and was now incredibly worried that she had attracted the attention of a tall, middle-aged man that was standing next to her to him. He dived beneath the table hoping that nothing would come of it. What he didn't realise was that the Indian woman and her companion could now see nothing but Chris' hand groping the table above him that was looking for his drink, it found it, but knocked the glass over and Chris covered himself in three shots of Vodka.
"My eye!!" came a shout from under the table.
Ravi howled in laughter, accepted the two drinks the bar tender gave him- a gin and tonic for him and a frozen strawberry concoction for his daughter and went over to the table in question, his daughter in tow.
"Perhaps you would like some assistance," he said to the hand, which was now laying dormant on the bench by the table.
"It's ok, I'm fine tha.." said Chris, cut off mid-sentence, cringing as his forehead came into contact with the edge of the table.
Chris stood up, with an angry expression on his face, which gradually turned into a smile as he came face to face with the young girl's companion.
"Chris Harris" he said, holding out a hand.
"Ravi Rajan," said Ravi with a grin, taking the man's hand and shaking it firmly. "This is my daughter Kanya.
Say hello, Kanya."
Kanya dipped her head in acknowledgement, but said nothing, only sitting when her father motioned for her to do so. She tried to avoid looking at the man, thinking that perhaps if she showed enough displeasure, her father would give up his scheme.
"Your daughter doesn't look particularly happy" said Chris, thanking the barman as he was brought a second triple vodka.
"She likely is not," replied Ravi, his Indian accent very thick and only just understandable. "She does not like it here."
He motioned for Kanya to say something.
"I want to go home," she said miserably. "I miss India."
"Aww" said Chris, unsure of what to say. "I tell you what, if it'll remind you of your home, there's a nice Indian restaurant near here, dinner on me?" he suggested, then remembering what he was dressed in, "I'll tidy myself up first, naturally" he added.
Ravi raised his eyebrows at his daughter, leaving it completely up to her. She couldn't help but give this Chris a small smile. "That would be lovely," she said, finally.
"Wonderful" said Chris, before an announcement came over the internal speakers.
"Chris Harris to the Hangar bay, Hymenoptera intruders"
"Son of a " exclaimed Chris, "I'll be there as soon as I can" he finished over a portable communicator, picking up his weapons belt that had somehow detached itself from his waist.
"I'll pick you up at around eightish, ok?" he asked. "I'll find your quarters, don't worry" he added.
Still feeling nervous and uncomfortable about the whole situation, Kanya nodded. If her father let her go through with this, it would be the first time she was with a man unaccompanied. She despirately hoped he would not allow it, but felt that he probably would.
"Great, see you then!" said Chris as he dashed out of the door towards the hangar bay, he had insects to kill.
After Chris had left, Ravi looked down sternly at his daughter. "You will behave yourself," he instructed, a bit of warmth in his voice. "Do you understand?"
"Yes, father," answered Kanya, slightly dejected. But, she would obey him because she loved him.
