That’s right: SciWorld 2020 is tomorrow, Saturday, April 18th. Join us then at 1730 UTC / 1:30 PM EDT (New York) / 10:30 AM PDT (San Francisco) for the Opening Ceremony. Josh of TNU Project and the rest of the event hosts have a fantastic line-up ready for us.
It doesn’t matter if you’re into Star Trek, Star Wars, Dr. Who, or something else entirely. Or if you prefer chat sims, play by e-mail, or message boards. If you’re a simmer or online role player of any persuasion, there will be something there for you! But what do you really get out of SciWorld? Here are 4 reasons you should attend:
As always, if you would like to host a one-hour discussion, trivia, or sim and there’s still space in the schedule, please contact Josh immediately at jhina [at] tnuproject [dot] org with “SciWorld” in the subject line.
See you tomorrow at SciWorld!

At the time I’m writing this, people around the world are staying indoors to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This lockdown period won’t last forever, but will mean you’re going to spend a lot of time indoors, & switching your favourite outdoor activities with indoor ones. If you have children, fret not because you can still have some fun in your backyard thanks to products like the best wooden playhouses for sale.
Maybe now is a good time to start writing that story you’ve always wanted to?

That’s right, join us on April 18th at 12:30 PM EST / 1730 UTC for the 2020 SciWorld Online Convention, which will be hosted by TNU Project and chaired by Josh Hina. As David wrote a few months back in his advertising piece, Ongoing Worlds is open to publishing articles promoting the different clubs and groups out there. A few examples are here, here, and here. So why not shamelessly plug my own group?
I ended my term as President of UCIP last August. Man, what a great group of role players! If you’re into some serious writing and simming, you can’t go wrong with them. However, as much as I love and respect UCIP, I was recently given the opportunity to finally return to my home club, Independence Fleet (IDFleet.com). It was simply too much to pass up. Yes, I’m back with IDF for my second stint as its Chief of Fleet Operations.

I recently posted about my own 20-year simming anniversary. Or is that birthday? Here’s another: It’s been 20 years of ToS (aka Tournament of Simulations). That’s right, the original ToS was held for the year 1999. ISO Troi ran it, and the Simming League sponsored it. While it’s been 20 years since that first ToS, this is actualy the 15th competition as not all years had a tournament. Another interesting bit of trivia: According to the surviving records, 167 total awards have been bestowed.
Okay, enough reminiscing. How about get on with the nominations?

This article was posted at the request of John Nugra, the Administrator of the Simming Prize.
The Simming Prize dates back to 1999 in honoring the very best of the online role playing community. Up to five Prizes are awarded annually to people, sims, clubs, and other organizations that (1) exemplify service, quality, and dedication within play-by-post online role-playing; or who (2) pioneer new technology or techniques within the community. The Prizes can recognize a significant onetime accomplishment, or sustained contributions over a period of time. The Simming Prize is presented in the memory of longtime role player and leader Seth Cotis.
After careful consideration and thoughtful deliberation, the Simming Prize trustees and judges hereby award the 2018 Simming Prize to:
