Bad TV shows for RPGS

broken old tv

My last article was for TV shows that I thought would make good RPGs or PBP games. This time, it’s shows that ,
if it was up to me and you tried to make these into a RPG or PBP game, i would kick you hard in the soft bits, travel back in time and watch myself kick you in the soft bits… then kick you again. Read More

Meta-gaming is Good

sarcastic wonkaThis article was written by Crimsyn from the USS Portland in Obsidian Fleet.

Meta-gaming is good

There, I said it.

I say this a lot, whether I’m playing tabletop games or play-by-post RPGs. And when I do, I’m invariably met with blank stares. After all, since Gygax first met the d20, it’s been common knowledge in the role-playing community that meta-gaming is one of the greatest sins that a player can commit. Read More

Don’t want to use the app? Open a chat window by clicking here

Hey guys, you might know already that there’s a group chat on OngoingWorlds, it’s right there in the top right corner.

The chat we use is one called ChatWing, which we chose because it has loads of different customisable options.

Did you also know that ChatWing has a mobile app that you can use? It’s completely free and really easy to connect to the OngoingWorlds chat, even if you’re out and about, or having a lazy day on the sofa. Just download and install the app through the Google Play store (search for “ChatWing”), then when installed, search for our chat which is simply called “OngoingWorlds” and you’ll be able to chat the same as if you’ve clicked the icon through the website. The Monster Wars’ One Year Anniversary

DavidThere’s been a few milestones reached recently, if you follow our Facebook page you’ll have seen that the game Nova Lux is 200 days old, and I posted a graphic Tib made to mark the occasion. On the same post, Luke mentioned that his Darwin game is celebrating 100 days. Of course this is a mere blink in the lifespan of our longest running game Blue Dwarf, which was 14 years old this month!

Here’s an article written for us by Ralazie, talking about another anniversary, and what that means.

Monster WarsHello all! Zie here! Recently my very first Role-Playing game, The Monster Wars celebrated it’s first birthday. Not only did this game have its first anniversary on this site, but I did too. That’s right! I’ve been here for a full year now, and in the process, joined more games then I really should, but enough about me! Read More

How To Properly End A Game

polls_Katrina_Go_Away_sign_3213_922879_answer_2_xlarge

This might be even tougher then losing members. We hate to see our games go, but if we’ve finished the story, gone as far as we could go, and hit the limit. It’s time to pack it up and call it a day, we did our job and by god we did it damn well. But how do you do that? How can you end a game? Do we just delete it like a bad character? No! That is never an option! A game isn’t like a character, it’s something more. Imagine it a home. Imagine if Back To The Future had no ending, if Star Wars had no ending, if Breaking Bad just suddenly stopped, or you ended like the Sopranos and just cut to straight black. That’s not exciting, that’s boring. And ending a game like that, to be honest, it might tick off a few people. If you can’t think of a way to end your game, that’s ok. But if you can but don’t want to, that’s a little unprofessional. With this you can find ways and examples on how to either save or end a game. Read More

Misty Wilson from Phoenix roleplaying

Written by Misty from Phoenix Roleplaying

This article was written by Misty from Phoenix Roleplaying where she’s the Advertising and Community Officer. Misty also roleplays as Kateri in The Dark Cometh

We all have those things in life that aggravate us. Just like there are things in Roleplay that annoy us. And on the occasion, tremendously….Some, more than others and some people more than others. No, I am not saying some folks are annoying, even if the fact is sometimes true. I’m saying that some people tend to get annoyed more easily than others might. And some things are just plain more annoying than others. Read More
