10 Reasons Why You Should Attend FallFest on November 9th

As we previously announced, the 2019 Simming Fall Festival (FallFest) will be held this Saturday. We’re proud to have 22nd Fleet serve as host and Andrew Greenfelt as chair. Here are 10 reasons why you should attend on the 9th:

  1. The entire simming and online roleplaying community will be together in online chat rooms for engaging discussions, interactive trivia games, and live chat role plays.
  2. Basically, we share ideas, information, and energy!
  3. You’ll get to rub elbows with many prominent members of our community.  In fact, some of the most successful and influential role players and simming leaders in history will be attending and facilitating events.  Learn from the best!
  4. You’ll hear about the latest and most innovative techniques and strategies for leading a successful role play.  Indeed, there will be multiple events dedicated to running better games.  Discover what’s working for others now!
  5. You’ll be able to role play with others from different clubs and genres.  With a diverse set of hosts and settings, you’ll experience a wide range of concepts and ideas.  Challenge the simming norms and help break barriers!
  6. You’ll have fun!  All simmers and online role players, regardless of rank or club affiliation, are invited to attend and participate.  There’s no better way to energize your sim than to come back with a fresh perspective.
  7. You can invite your friends!
  8. You can contact 22nd Fleet if you would like to host a one-hour discussion, trivia game, or role play.
  9. FallFest is something you’ll not quickly forget.
  10. You probably have a lot to share with the community as well.
We want to meet and hear from you!

See you at FallFest IX!

7 Great Places to Advertise Your PBEM or Roleplaying Game

Billboard that says join my play-by-post game

We’ve posted several articles over the years on how and where to advertise your games:

However as most things do, websites and resources come and go. Given that our most recent article on the topic is now over 4 years old, we thought it would be a good time to provide an update. Here are 7 areas to think about when it comes to advertising and promoting your games:

Simming: The Game Show

Come on down!

You heard that right! And no, I’m not talking about a sim with a game show as the setting, but rather a sim that’s also game show–were you can be both contestant and simmer at the same time! As far as we can tell, this has never been done before so we’ll be breaking new ground. We often do that here at Ongoing Worlds!

How will it work?

We’re still figuring that out. However, the game will be designed primarily around the contestants who volunteer. At the most basic level, the sim/game will be hosted on the Ongoing Worlds platform, and I’ll write weekly blog posts here to serve as the episodes. We’ll likely start with 10-12 contestants and have the game run 8-10 weeks. It will function more or less like a typical sim except there will be one or more tasks to complete each week for the game show aspect. We except a fall airtime.

What a 20th Anniversary SciWorld, Trivia, and More!

What a SciWorld! Unfortunately, I was only able to attend my own event, I’ve but I’ve reviewed the transcripts and it looks like it was a excellent convention! I saw a lot of great ideas exchanged and some really interesting discussions. Most importantly, I saw the best of the simming and role playing community: YOU! In short, the 20th anniversary of SciWorld was everything I hoped it would be and more. We’re off to a superb start for the next 20 years.

FallFest 2018: Be There on December 15th

That’s right, the 2018 Simming Fall Festival is scheduled for December 15th!  Indeed, TNU Project has been selected as this year’s host, and Josh Hina will serve as chair.  We’re going a little different route this year as TNU is not a club in in the traditional sense.  Instead, they’re a member of Ascension Sims.  However, Josh and co. already have an outstanding line up events ready for December 15th. SciWorld! Wow!

What a SciWorld we had last month!  In case you missed it, Bravo Fleet and Star Army partnered together to host the 2018 edition, which was an absolute blast!  As far as we know, this was the first time that two different sim clubs co-hosted the convention.  The first SciWorld was in 1999, and it has been held continuously since 2011.  We believe that this year’s SciWorld was the 16th, but we’re not positive as many records from the early 2000s are no longer available.
